Our 6 Steps to Follow If You're In A Car Accident
STEP 1 - CALL 911
STEP 2 - PHOTO EVIDENCE - Take pictures of the damage. Photograph anything and everything that has to do with the accident scene, because you will never get a second chance. Make sure you take photos of the Cars, the Damage, their positions on the street, any traffic signs or signals, the car's license plates and VIN numbers. If you don't write it down, take a picture of the person who caused the accident's insurance card and driver's license, if they let you. At the very least, get their name, Insurance company and policy number.
STEP 3 - GET THE OTHER DRIVER'S INFO - If you did not get a photo in step 2, the write down the at fault driver's insurance information, policy number, insurance company, their complete name, date of birth, driver's license number, address and phone number.
STEP 4 - GET WITNESS INFO - Get the names and phone numbers of any witnesses. If you can also get their addresses, that would also be helpful.
STEP 5 - VIDEO EVIDENCE - Video Evidence. We can't stress enough, because this is your ONLY chance to document the scene as it happened. Sometimes we forget to take a photo, but if you take a video, you might see something you missed in the photos. Please try to get anything and everything involved in the accident scene.
STEP 6 - CALL PHIL - Our most important step "CALL PHIL". Whether you use our firm or not, please do not try to work it out or settle with the insurance company on your own. They are Never on your side. Their goal is to save themselves money. Please remember that if you have had ANY previous accidents, please let Phil know.
